Dr. Thomas Henfrey
I am a writer and action researcher in human ecology, grassroots sustainability activist and eco-social designer, and teacher and practitioner of core shamanism. I hold a Ph.D in Environmental Anthropology, a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design, and am a certified teacher of permaculture and shamanism. My several decades of professional experience span academic, community and NGO settings, including working at local-regional, national and international levels.

I offer bespoke training for researchers working on projects involving non-academic partners, based on my ongoing work applying social permaculture to the design and delivery of collaborative research. The purpose is to equip researchers to move towards what I term Mode 3 research, in which positive environmental and social impacts are integral features of research design. Permaculture Diploma Tuition
The Permaculture Diploma is a programme of advanced training open to anyone who holds a Permaculture Design Certificate. It involves largely self-directed study towards creation of a portfolio of ten completed designs of the apprentice’s choosing, over a timescale of two years or more. Apprentices have the option of ongoing support from a dedicated diploma tutor and the opportunity to join a thriving and dynamic international community of apprentices, tutors and diploma holders.
